A Soul Mate For Your Feet

Runners are a dedicated bunch. We’re endowed with a maniacal desire to push forward when others hold back; to boldly go wherever the run takes us.

As a runner, you ask more from your heart and lungs, your quads and calves, than those unfortunate sedentary souls who’ll never experience the joys of a tailwind on a crisp 12 degree day. In the very strands of your DNA is the relentless and undeniable passion to run faster, to run farther, to always run better. But truth be told, to be the very best runner you can possibly be, you need more than just an undying love of running. You need a running shoe that loves your feet as well.

A running shoe should not only be the right size, but it should be the right shoe. The perfect mate. A shoe that feels like it was crafted for your feet alone. So what does this perfect shoe feel like? For starters, it should wrap affectionately around your midfoot and arch. You should feel your foot is being hugged by a shoe that loves it dearly. Next, it should embrace your heel while giving your forefoot and toes just enough wiggle room. Finally, it should feel light and airy, like a natural extension of your body. It should move like your foot moves so that they feel intimately linked, like a second skin.

So, for all you Mizuno shoe lovers out there, it’s time to think about what you will be wearing for the Toronto Women’s Half Marathon/5k. If you remember all of the funky blue Elixirs at the race last year you may be wondering what the 2012 shoe looks like. It’s new and even flashier than before (think purple zebra)!  This lightweight stability trainer checks in at just 7.7 ounces, making it the lightest Elixir yet! Featuring a flexible but responsive midsole, the Elixir 7 is a good go-fast shoe that still offers some pronation protection for faster workouts and races.

We look forward to seeing you in Sunnybrook Park May 27th!
